It’s nearly assessment season and we’re approaching a period when a lot of our students will be submitting work for the first time to Blackboard or Turnitin for marking. We’ve got it covered! There’s plenty of clear step-by-step guidance for our students on the TEL/Blackboard student help site about how to successfully submit their work and access their marks and feedback. Staff involved at any stage in managing assessment – setting up assessed activities, marking, moderating – can find appropriate guidance to help them on the Staff help site. There are also some helpful staff development webinars scheduled and, if you’re new to marking, why not check out the online tutorials to get up to speed (details below).
Help for students submitting work online
We have a full range of e-submission guides on our Student help site, aimed at helping students avoid technical issues, undue stress, or penalties for late submission. Please encourage your students to make use of these resources ahead of submitting – they are listed on the Student Assessment Help page (they can also be accessed via the ‘Assessment Help’ area on the Student Help site’s home page).
The best place for students to start is the Online Submission checklist.
Depending on the nature of your assessments, you may also wish to direct students to one of these articles:
