The Counselling and Wellbeing Team: Closing on the 21 December at 16:00 and opening again on the 4 January 2021 at 09:00. Normal opening times leading up to the Christmas closure – Reception opening hours Monday – Friday: 09:00-12:00 & 12:00-16:00.

The Student Welfare Team: Closing on the 21 December at 16:00 and opening again on the 4 January 2021. Normal opening times leading up to the Christmas closure – 09:00-17:00. 17 December closing at 15:00.


The Disability Advisory Service (DAS): DAS will be closed over the Christmas period from 16:00 Friday 18 December and reopening on Monday 4 January 2021. Normal opening times leading up to the Christmas closure.


Support Centres: Ask a Question is the main method for contacting support centres with non-urgent queries. Student-facing staff will be on campus for in-person student enquiries up to Friday 11 December (10:00-16:00) and again from 4 January (10:00-16:00). From Monday 14 to Friday 18 and Monday 21 December (10:00 -16:00), Support Centre staff will be available remotely by telephone.


Student Services Reception: From Monday 14 to Friday 18 December, the reception will be open for in-person enquiries from 11:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 16:00. On Monday 21 December, the desk will be open from 11:00 to 13:00. Telephone 0118 378 5555 (Mondays to Thursdays 09:00 – 17:00 and on Friday 09:00 – 16:30) or email studenthelp@reading.ac.uk. The reception will close on Monday 21 December and reopen on Monday 4 January.


Campus Jobs: Campus Jobs is operating on an appointment-only basis up to Friday 18 December 2020, between the hours of 12:00-16:00, these are booked via the Campus Jobs portal

The team will be available to answer your phone calls and email messages between 09:00-17:00 up to Monday 21 December (not including weekends).

The Campus Jobs Office will be closed from the 22 December, we will re-open again on Monday 4 January 2021 between 09:00-17:00 Monday-Thursday and 09:00-16:30 Fridays. Our Desk will be open from the 4 of January on an appointment-only basis.


University of Reading Library: The Library will close at 17:00 on Monday 21 December and open again at 08:30 on Monday 4 January 2021. Opening hours can
be found online.

IT Service Desk: The IT Service Desk in the Library will close on Monday 21 December at 17:00. Telephone lines (6262) will close on the same day at 18:00. The services will be available again from Monday 4 January 2021, the IT Service Desk in the Library at 09:00, and other at 08:00. All visits to the Library IT Service Desk must be made by pre-booked appointments – the link to book is at the foot of the DTS hub.

The IT team will be able to accept enquiries by email dts@reading.ac.uk and via the Self Service Portal during the closure period, but these will not be responded to until after the Christmas closure period.

The International Student Advisory Team: Closing on Monday 21 December at 17:00.  If you need to see the team before the 21 December please book an appointment. you can also contact the team via email or phone 09:00 – 17:00, Monday – Friday leading up to Christmas closure.

During the Christmas closure, you can email immigration@reading.ac.uk the team will respond to emails on their return.

The team will be operating again from Monday 4 January.


The University of Reading Careers and Placements team: Careers will be open until 17:00, Monday 21 December with telephone appointments running from 10.00 – 12.00. They are closed from 09:00 Tuesday 22 December to 09:00 4 January 2021.

From Monday 14 December opening hours are 09:00 – 17:00 Monday – Thursday, and 09:00 – 16.30  Friday. Telephone appointments are available leading up to the Christmas closure from 11.00 – 12.00 and 13.00 – 14.00. More information on booking an appointment can be found online.

The Student Financial Support Team: The Student Financial Support Team are closing on the 21 December at 13:00. Leading up to the Christmas Closure period you can book a virtual appointment Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 09:30 – 12:00.

The team are currently unable to see students face-to-face (unless you have an urgent query) and in these circumstances, you should call the team on 0118 378 5555.

The Student Financial Support Team will be available again from the 4 January 2021.

RUSU (Building and The Study): Closing at 17:00 Friday 18 December 2020. The building is open from 08:00 to 18:00 until Friday 18 December. Opening from 08:00 Monday 4 January 2021:

4 – 9 January 2021 08:00 – 18:00, 11 January onwards 08:00 – 23:00

  • Student Space is open every day throughout the Christmas period and has great resources and helplines.
  • Urgent concerns about your mental health? Call the Berkshire NHS Crisis number on 0300 365 0300; they are available 24/7.
  • If you are feeling suicidal or desperate to talk to someone, you can call the Samaritans for free 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on 116 123.
  • PAPYRUS is the national UK charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide and offers a telephone and text service on 0800 068 4141. The service is staffed by trained mental health professionals 10:00 – 22:00 weekdays and 14:00 – 17:00 at the weekend.
  • Your doctor/GP practice. If you are registered with the University Medical practice in Northcourt Avenue, the number is:0118 987 4551. Otherwise, please contact the doctor with whom you are registered.
