Things to do in and around Reading this summer

Are you staying in Reading over the summer? We have put together a list of our favourite things to do in and around Reading so why not explore!

  1. Try some watersports at Caversham Lakes or Wokingham Waterside Centre
  2. Go support local theatre – see a show at Reading Rep Theatre
  3. Take a walk along The Thames from Reading to Sonning via Thames Valley Park
  4. Catch a film at the local indie cinema The Biscuit Factory, they also host lots of great events!
  5. Take a day trip to Marlow, Henley-on-Thames, Wokingham or London
  6. Play darts, bowling or mini-golf at Spinners Reading
  7. Visit the Climbing Centre Reading
  8. Visit Bracknell which has a waterpark (Coral Reef), Go Ape, Swinley Forest and the Look Out.
  9. Take a picnic to Reading Abbey and chill
  10. Hire a bike and go for a bike ride. The “Unicycle” low-cost hire scheme continues through the summer with all sizes of commuter bikes available. These come with lock/ lights and insurance with options for hire duration from one term to one year.
  11. Take a walk to Caversham Court Gardens or book one of their summer open-air film screenings.
  12. Relax and treat yourself at Thames Lido Pool & Spa. Book a non-member swim for £20 which gives you access for 2 hours and includes use of the pool, saunas and hot tub.
  13. Like board games? Meet others and play some new games with Reading Board Gamers meet-up group.
