Staff and students are warmly invited to a free screening of Jordan Peele’s Academy award-winning horror blockbuster, Get Out.

The screening is in the Palmer building, room G10, on 26 January 2022 from 15:00-18:00. It will be followed by an engaging panel talk on the film and its themes.

Synopsis: A young African-American visits his white girlfriend’s parents for the weekend, where his simmering uneasiness about their reception of him eventually reaches a boiling point. (Horror, Mystery, Thriller)

Why this film?

Jordan Peele became the first African American to win the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, and the first African American to be nominated for producing, writing and directing in the same year.

The film is loaded with social commentary and serves as an entertaining springboard for an engaging panel discussion regarding race and identity, as part of the university’s series of events this January focused on race, identity and inclusion.
