Following the sad news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II, we wanted to reassure you that your arrival at The University of Reading is unaffected and will continue as planned. However, Monday 19 September will be a day of national mourning and out of respect, campus will be operating slightly differently from normal. All Welcome events will be cancelled on the 19 September, however, enrolment will be taking place on Monday 19 September between the hours of 13:00-17:00 in the Palmer Building on Whiteknights campus.
We are working to update all event schedules – Most changes will be made by Saturday 17th September however please refresh your UoR Welcome app regularly for any later changes to your scheduled events.

What is enrolment?
Enrolment is a necessity as it is this that confirms that you are ‘attending’ the university and releases student loans to you.
You must either enrol for the first time (as a new undergraduate UG, postgraduate taught PGT or postgraduate research student PGR) or re-enrol (if you are a returning student).
If you are a new student and don’t enrol you won’t get access to any of our systems, as we cannot activate your IT account.
When can I enrol?
Online enrolment opens at the following times:
- 1 August for new postgraduate students
- 1 September for new undergraduate students
- 9 September for returning students
In-person enrolment opens on 15 September in the Palmer Building. This will be open from 09.30-16:30 every day until Sunday 18 September, on Monday 19 September due to the national day of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, enrolment will be open from 13:00-17:00.
Enrolment for new students
This is a two-stage process. You cannot complete in-person enrolment until you have completed online enrolment.
- Online enrolment: you provide us with information about yourself, your addresses, contact details, upload your photo, identification documents and immigration docs, and either pay 50% of your tuition fees or tell us who is paying them on your behalf.
- In-person enrolment: you provide evidence of your ID, have your immigration docs and status checked, and collect your campus card (and BRP card where relevant). Following this, your IT account will be available for you to access.
If you are attending in person you will need to complete your in-person enrolment by Monday 19 September (on Monday 19 September due to the national day of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, enrolment will be open from 13:00-17:00.) in order to be able to access your UoR email, teaching timetable, Blackboard, MS Teams, Me@Reading, The UoR Student app, RISIS Portal etc. to be able to fully participate in Welcome activities the following week.

Do I need to book an appointment for in-person enrolment?
No, you do not need to book an appointment. Simply arrive anytime during our opening hours. This is 09.30-16:30 from Thursday 15 September until Sunday 18 September, on Monday 19 September due to the national day of mourning for Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, enrolment will be open from 13:00-17:00.
When do I get access to my UoR email address?
You will get access to your email address when you complete in-person enrolment. Once you have completed in-person enrolment, head to RISIS to collect your username and password for your IT account.
What documents do I need to bring for enrolment?
Please bring a form of photographic ID with you to enrolment such as your passport or driving license. If you are an international student you will also need to bring your visa and documentation that will allow you to collect your BRP card.
