Hi everyone! With 2025 officially underway, lots of you may have picked up some new hobbies. I have really enjoyed reading more books, and this is something I would like to carry on with.
Reading has a huge number of benefits, and has the ability to put people in a really good mood and relax them. Books can be very affordable and be purchased in charity shops around Reading.
Here are my top 5 book recommendations for 2025.
The Girl on the Train – Paula Hawkins
This is my favourite book I have ever read. It is a psychological thriller which is told from the point of view of 3 different women. It was a New York Times best seller when it first came out, and for good reason! I would recommend reading this book if you like a murder mystery with a shocking twist which keeps you guessing until the final page.
The Midnight Library – Matt Haig
This is a beautiful fiction novel which tells the story of a woman who, during a difficult time in her life, has the option to see all of the different ways her future could have been if she had changed her past decisions. It teaches a beautiful lesson about living life to the fullest, not having regrets, and being kind to yourself. This book was truly life changing for me, so I would definitely recommend it!
Everything I Know About Love – Dolly Alderton
Another life changing book. This is a memoir written by a British women about her experiences growing up and entering adulthood. It is funny, heartwarming, and powerful, and teaches the reader so many important life lessons. This book will hopefully be relatable, and teach you some lessons along the way.
The Lorax – Dr Seuss
Whilst this is technically a children’s book, the lessons from it are more important now than ever. It tells a tale of how human greed can lead to environmental destruction and the downfall of nature. It highlights the importance of environmental activism, which is so important in the current climate!
Atomic Habits – James Clear
This non-fiction book is a must-read, teaching you how to make your whole life better by making small, simple changes to your routine. This could include things like waking up 5 minutes early, habit stacking, and making more phone calls. Read this book if you want to improve your life one small step at a time, with advice supported by psychology and neuroscience!
Thank you for reading this blog, and I hope that it has shown you some books which might be great for you to read in 2025. Why not try reading a book or two to wind down after the exam period? If you find reading books a bit difficult, then you can always try listening to an audiobook instead.
