Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, with it being on Sunday 30th March in 2025, and you may wish to show your appreciation and love towards your mother with some thoughtful gifts. I will provide some inspiration and ideas of affordable yet caring gifts to show your gratitude.

Homemade Cards (To Go Along With Your Gift)

The most usual gift idea would be to create a homemade card, with materials you can find in any craft shop (such as paper/card, pens, bows and decorations etc)., allowing you to personalise it and add a sweet message.

Flowers

To accompany your card, you can buy some flowers, which are available in most shops or garden stores, and are a staple for Mother’s Day. Alternatively you may want to make some fake DIY flowers using craft items.

Bracelets

If your mother likes jewellery, you can get her a bracelet – or make her one. Plenty of stores sell Mother’s Day jewellery, such as Next and M&S, or any jewellery store you might think she likes. If you want something more affordable, you can make a DIY bracelet such as an adorable yarn bracelet.

Scents (Fragrances, Candles etc.)

For something sweet smelling, you may wish to gift your mother with some nice scents, such as any bath or body products (e.g. bath bombs, shower gels, body scrubs), fragrances or perfumes, candles etc.. These can also come in a wide range of price points which you can choose depending on your preference.

Mugs

You can find plenty of Mother’s Day mug designs in most stores or online, and it can be a fun and useful gift she will keep for a long time. If you want to make it more personal, you can create your own design and DIY a mug to make it more interesting and memorable. You can also fill the mug with smaller items such as little chocolates or sweets.

Baked Goods

Perhaps you may want to bake something for your mother, and there are plenty of yummy treats you can make that show your love and appreciation. For example you can make:

You can also make her any dessert or treat you know she enjoys most, perhaps a cheesecake, tiramisu, brownie etc.

Small Gift Basket

Buying a small basket and filling it with numerous small gifts might be a fun way to incorporate a few ideas and make a more unforgettable presentation. You can add in any of the gift ideas above, or your own. In addition to these, you can fill it with food items too, such as little chocolates, candies, homemade baked goods or drink items such as wine (or any other drinks she likes).

With Mother’s Day on 30th March, you may want to start thinking about how you want to show you gratitude and affection towards your mother. As this is a show of love, remember that price shouldn’t matter, and that you may want to gift something personal and thoughtful (such as a DIY gift). Make sure to try and spend some time with your mother if you can, and let her know you appreciate her and her efforts.

Think about what your mother might appreciate most, and what is in your price budget. One of the simplest things to accompany any gift would be a sweet homemade card, which should be affordable yet show that you care about her. Pair this with any other small gift, as well as spending some time with her (either in-person or over the phone).
