English Department in the wider community: Sixth Form Lectures

Our Sixth Form Lectures are a welcome addition to the school calendar of many secondary schools in our area and continue to be a successful element of our engagement with the wider community. This year the programme has, as usual, been diverse and challenging:

 

17th January, Dr David Brauner: The World’s Wife and Identity in the Modern World;

24th January, Dr Andrew Mangham: Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.

7th February, Dr Neil Cocks: Othello, including connections with Love through the Ages.

21st February, Professor Grace Ioppolo: A Streetcar Named Desire.

28th February, Dr Conor Carville, Poetry of World War I.

6th March, Dr Stephen Thomson: Paradise Lost Book I, including Gothic features.

13th March, Dr Neil Cocks: Child Language Acquisition.

20th March, Dr John Holmes: Christopher Marlowe’s Dr Faustus.
