You are warmly invited to this fortnight’s staff-postgraduate
CONTEMPORARY POETRY DISCUSSION GROUP.
All with an interest in literature are welcome!
We’re meeting on:
THURSDAY 12th July at 4:30pm
in HUMSS 112
Whiteknights Campus
We’ll be discussing the performance poetry of Rafeef Ziadah, the Palestinian spoken-word artist and activist.
Amongst the topics we’re likely to discuss are:
the different literary experiences that arise for us when reading a printed page of poems or listening to the spoken word; poetry and performance (especially politics, voice and physical presence), the ethics of receiving and responding to politically-active poetry, the ways history, tradition, place and space are configured in Ziadah’s art.
