Carbon offsets either remove greenhouse gases from the air or prevent other emissions to offset those you put into it. They face questions both economic (is ‘net zero’ really reached?) and moral. I defend the moral permissibility of offsets against a recent criticism: they do likely shift climate harms around, but that need not be unjust.
