Tony Roe, Principal of Theale-based niche family law firm, Tony Roe Solicitors, personally presented his firm’s prize to Rachel Oakley, who graduated this year with a first class honours degree in Law. Rachel received the Tony Roe Solicitors’ Prize for the best performance in the Family Law final examination. Ms Oakley received a monetary gift as well as one week’s work experience with Tony Roe Solicitors. Mr Roe said, “It is a great privilege to present the Family Law Prize personally to Rachel Oakley. The quality of the prize winners is a testament to their hard work”.
For a number of years, Tony Roe has provided continuing support to students at the School of Law, both through practical career advice and specific insight into family law practice. In preparation for their exam, Tony had given the students a practical family law problem on financial provision to work on so that they could come up with their suggested order for a fictional couple going through a divorce. One student, Hettie Dunkley, commented, “The lecture was really helpful and well received”.
Dr Thérèse Callus, module convenor for family law said,” We are delighted that our students can benefit from the breadth of Tony’s practical expertise and enthusiasm, which helps to put their learning into context. Tony’s continued support over the years really has a positive impact on our students’ experience and results. The Tony Roe Prize is an added benefit, including work experience with the firm.”
