On Friday 21st February, 250 law students and lecturers gathered at Reading Town Hall for Reading University Law Society’s Annual Law Ball.
The black-tie event saw students arriving excitedly in their dinner jackets and ball gowns to be greeted with a champagne reception with live musicians. Guests were then invited through to the concert hall, which had been beautifully decorated by Jasmine Mason in accordance with a “Cinderella” theme. Little glass slippers, pumpkin carriages and glittering clocks decorated the tables of the hall, as guests sat down to their three-course dinner.
After the meal, the guest speaker, barrister Alistair Hodge, made a dazzling speech about his funniest highlights from his time at the bar. This was followed by the Annual Law Ball Awards, and an outstanding performance from Elizabeth McArthur (University of Reading Alumni and previous Law Society President).
As the clock struck twelve, guests stopped their dancing and headed for an after party near by. It was a magical evening, and one which will be remembered for many years to come.
