On Sunday 21st March, Ruvi Ziegler successfully moved an amendment to a policy motion at Liberal Democrats Conference on ‘Safe and Legal routes to save lives’ calling for the ‘creation of pathways for submission of humanitarian visa applications prior to arrival in the UK as a humane and effective way of reducing dangerous irregular journeys’.

On Wednesday, 17 March 2021, 1-2pm Dr Ruvi Ziegler will be presenting a paper on Political rights of “aliens” under the ECHR’ at the Sussex Centre for Human Rights Research.

Ruvi wrote a blog-post re the ‘Human Rights Act and Seekers of International Protection’ for the Human Rights in Action Project, with an aim of making a joint submission to the Independent HRA Review (expected to report in July 2021).
Dr Ruvi Ziegler gave a lecture on 10th February @ 6:30pm as part of the ‘Reflections on the future of Europe’ entitled: ‘Who decides my right to vote?’.

Dr Ruvi Ziegler (University of Reading School of Law) will be speaking about the principle of nonrefoulement in the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights at a Goldsmiths Law and the ‘Knowing Our Rights’ project online conference on 4th November, celebrating 70 years of the European Convention of Human Rights. The conference features a wide range of human rights scholars, NGO experts and politicians, who will come together to consider the past, present and future of the Convention.
