This week I received a series of letters from some of the Aldryngton pupils that visited the tropical biodiversity glasshouse. Thank you all for writing such nice letters and for adding such good pictures! I’ve posted your letters (with your family names removed) so that everyone can see the quality of your work.
You have good pictures of plants and animals here to show how the two live together.
Your pictures show a wide variety of the things you saw and touched.
I can see you liked the lemon grass, but also the carnivorous plants!

You have drawn a lovely clump of Scotch Bonnett Chilli peppers.
I like the water fern picture on the left.

The water plants were certainly fun with their long roots!

You have captured the water plants very well, especially the waterlily flower.
The horsetail was an example of a plant that existed before dinosaurs. Some of these are weeds in our gardens.
Your horsetail picture makes it look really giant.
Venus flytraps can move very quickly in warm weather to trap insects that land on them. Nobody believed these plants ate animals until Charles Darwin showed how they benefited from animals as food.
I can see the pond plants very clearly in this drawing.

Your water lettuce plants are showing how well they float even when the water is disturbed.
The lily pads feel very slimy sometimes because of their waterproof coating.
The double coconut is from a very rare palm species that grows in the Seychelles.
I can see you have drawn the double coconut and the Scotch Bonnet chilli pepper.
Spanish moss has no roots but gets tangled around tree branches where it grows well in warm damp conditions.
