You may have seen that we have been promoting our new NHS self-help leaflets on Twitter. If you haven’t, don’t worry, we will explain everything in this blog.

Student Services, The University of Reading Counselling and Wellbeing team and the NHS have been collaborating on a set of self -help guides designed for you, our diverse community of students. Sometimes opening up and finding out more isn’t easy. So, alongside our professional services at the University, we are proud to bring you 19 new informative self-help guides.

The guides are there for you to access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, giving you helpful information and advice written by NHS professionals. What’s great is you can easily pass these on to others who may need support, you can do this by using the ‘Send to a friend’ button found by clicking on each guide. We do however ask you to be mindful when doing this.

The guides are available on Essentials via the Support Pages. You can read the information online, download as a PDF, listen as an audio file, or share them via email and social media – making them accessible to a range of different students and staff.

One guide we would like to highlight in this blog is ‘Stress’ – university is an amazing journey, but it can also be a challenge. I know from my time at university, I found taking on assessments and preparing for life after university to be particularly stressful times. For you, you may have found the transition into online learning a challenge, or maybe the idea of coming back onto campus is making you feel anxious. Whatever the situation, these booklets will help you understand more about specific topics. They will give you helpful advice, contacts and knowledge.

If you would like further help and advice, our support teams are here to help. At present we are working remotely, but our services are open if you feel like you might need them, these include:

We would love to hear what you think of the new NHS guides. Please leave a review by clicking on a leaflet or let us know more by emailing us: studentcoms@reading.ac.uk.
