You’ve probably already noticed that the way you’re learning this term has changed. With more online lessons and recorded content to watch you’re presented with a number of opportunities – the choice of when and where to study – but also this presents itself with a number of challenges. But don’t forget, there’s plenty of advice and support on offer to help you make the most of this way of studying.
Some quick tips
One of the key challenges with blended learning is keeping yourself motivated. Here’s some things you can do to ensure you stay motivated and on track:
- Have a routine. Get up at the same time each ‘study’ day and begin studying at the same time. If you don’t have scheduled webinars or face to face sessions, get on with your reading, engaging with online content or preparing for assessments.
- Make a plan. Know what you’re intending to achieve each week and what you intend to focus on each day. Crossing these off as you go gives you a sense of achievement and helps with motivation.
- Set up your work station. If you’re lucky enough to have a desk, make sure you have everything you need to hand and leave it tidy at the end of your study time, so it’s inviting to return to. We have spaces on campus to study, which you may prefer
- Work at your best time. Think about when in the day you’re most motivated to study and plan your study around this. Make sure you take small, regular breaks every 40 minutes or so and switch between different modes of study (watching videos, reading materials, writing notes etc.) throughout the day to keep yourself engaged.
