The University is taking part in an important study set up by Public Health England to determine the extent of spread of COVID-19 by finding out how many students have been exposed and developed antibodies against the virus, regardless of symptoms. This information will help to inform future planning for outbreaks.
Public Health England will be offering voluntary antibody tests as part of this research study throughout the week ending Friday 11th December. The antibody test will reveal whether you’ve been exposed to COVID-19 previously. You can take the test whether or not you are known to have had COVID-19.
Sign up ahead of time by completing a short online questionnaire to register.
If you have booked a rapid Lateral Flow COVID-19 test, we encourage you to take part at the same time. You can collect your test kit from the Sports Park straight afterwards, or anytime between 10am and 6pm. There is no need to book- just ask for the PHE study. Once your sample has been processed you will receive your results by email or text.
The team from Public Health England will be on campus on 11th December if you would like to speak to them directly. For more information, see these frequently asked questions (FAQs) and more detailed information about the study.
This is a voluntary study and it’s entirely up to you if you choose to take part.
