Discover the exciting timetable of events taking place across the University’s campuses for this year’s Green Festival!
Green Festival is the University of Reading’s annual sustainability celebration, hosted by the University’s Sustainable Services team. This year it will be taking place from 1 -11 November.
All of the events taking place are open to all students and will be taking place at various locations across the University. You can earn Green Points on the student Doing #UoR Bit app simply by attending one (or more!) of our Green Festival events. Check out the sustainable action platform for students to find out more.
Here is the timetable of events taking place throughout the festival:
Monday 7 November
11:15 – 13:45 – Meet the Sustainability team at The Diary, London Road to find out about all the ways you can be more sustainable. This is a drop-in event, no pre-booking required.
Wednesday 9 November
10:00 – 15:00 – Visit the Library Foyer, Whiteknights Campus to find out about the great sustainable travel offers available to you. From 11:30 – 13:30 there is also the opportunity to meet the Environmental Scientist Marta O’Brien and Mark Mason from Design Nature.
12:00 – 17:00 –Day of Cycling at Palmer Quad, Whiteknights. Find out everything you need to know about cycling at Reading University:
- Drop in to see Dr Bike for free bike maintenance
- 13:00 – 14:00 – Sign up to the ‘Learn to Ride’ taster session with an experienced cycling instructor.
- 14:00 -15:00 – Reserve your space to take part in a scenic leisure ride around Whiteknights campus.
- 15:30 – 17:00 – Book your place on the ‘Commuting Skills Ride’ to learn about Reading’s cycle routes.
Thursday 10 November
11:00 – 15:00 – Come along to the Student Societies Volunteering Fayre taking place at the Mondial, RUSU. Meet representatives from all the green groups, speak to the sustainability team about the Doing #UoRBit sustainable action platforms, and find out about the new RED Sustainable Action award.
13:00 – 14:00 – Come along to the employers panel event in Room 108 in Palmer Building to find out about exciting opportunities for future employment in the sustainability field. Spaces are limited for this event, so make sure to book your space in advance.
14:00 – Take action to help the environment by signing up to the litter pick with our local community. Starting outside the front of RUSU at 14:00.
Friday 11 November
10:00 – 15:00 – Drop by the Library Foyer, Whiteknights Campus for energy and money saving advice from RUSU’s Advice Service and Citizens Advice, and to hear about the University’s Net Zero goals for 2023 and the sustainable action platforms
11:30 – 14:00 – Find out more about low carbon energy on campus by reserving a spot on one of the energy tours taking place between 11:30 – 14:00. Tours begin at the main entrance to the Library, Whiteknights Campus.
