How are things going? Checking in with your friendly Study Advice team 😊

After having a bit of a break in Week 6, modules have now resumed and work intensifies. Time to take stock, prioritise, and try efficient study practices.

As you work on your assignments, think about:

  • Staying on topic: Is what you’re doing relevant? How is it helping with your task? Make it a habit to recheck your assignment instructions.
  • Monitoring your progress: Set small and realistic goals for each study session. Even the most daunting tasks can be accomplished step by step!
  • Staying productive: When tired, pushing yourself won’t help. Instead, take regular breaks, so that you work when rested and recharged.
  • Selecting the right study space: Do you take inspiration from others around you? Or do you focus better in quiet places? Choose a type of environment that motivates you.
  • Minimising distractions: What do you commonly end up doing instead of studying? Acknowledging your distractors can help you avoid them. Try different strategies, like putting your phone in another room, studying in a group, or sharing your study goals with a friend.
  • Maintaining positivity: Reward yourself when you achieve your study goals. Equally, recognise it’s okay when you need to adjust your plan.
