Professor Paul Almond was featured on BBC Radio 4’s The Today programme, as well as on BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 5Live, and BBC Berkshire on the 19th and 20th of April, discussing health and safety policy and a news story (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27084474) about the Government’s instruction to Local Authorities on regulatory decision-making. Paul’s research, including a current project looking at ‘The Changing legitimacy of Health and Safety Regulation, 1960-2014 (http://blogs.reading.ac.uk/clhsr/) allowed him to observe that the real meaning of this government intervention probably lies more in its links to current political debates about regulation than any substantive problems in decision-making.
