Practice Facilities

At UoR Music in L29 we’re lucky enough to have fantastic facilities for our musical home. Every room has a piano, and around the building are even several beautiful ‘grands’ that you can use.
For bands we have both a general rehearsal room with acoustic kit (G06), other acoustic kits around the building as well, and a top of the range ‘silent rehearsal room’ (G04) so that you can rehearse and make some big noise(!) before 5pm. ….band rehearsal for breakfast anyone….?! 

There are lots of spaces you can book: 6 individual practice rooms, and larger rooms for rehearsing anything from 4 people up to a symphony orchestra!
Particular highlights are G01 with it’s 2 grand pianos and the beautifully intimate (but still large) G03.
We also have a recording studio and lots of tech link ups. Cool…. And then…. there’s the Great Hall, which is stunning (not technically in the music department, but you can do a lot of concerts and events there). If you haven’t seen it, have a look at some images online. It’s lovely, and a real experience to perform in.

Monday – Sunday: 08:00–21:30
(Closed on University Closure Dates – see below)

Amplified sound:

• Allowed after 17:00 on weekdays only

• Before 17:00, use G04 silent practice room (booking required)

How to Get Access

• You can purchase your individual practice room access for the 2025/26 academic year here

• New users must attend an induction session (dates published at the bottom of this page)

• All members of a band must have individual practice room access.

• Access is via University campus card or guest card

• After purchasing Practice Room Access, you’ll be added to our Microsoft Bookings system (allow up to 5 working days)

Our facilities are for individual practice and UoR LIVE band rehearsals. Unfortunately, we cannot offer space for private tuition, community ensembles, or commercial activity.
