Reading University Music Socs

UoR Music regularly collaborates with the following Reading University Music socs:

  • RUMS – Reading University Music Society
  • Reading Uni Band Society
  • Reading Rock Society
  • Reading Singer-Songwriters Society

In conjunction, with these thriving music societies, we will be hosting multiple events throughout the academic year. To find out more about these societies please read on!

RUMS offer a wide range of musical ensembles led by students, suitable for players and singers of all standards. They also run termly concerts to show off what they have been doing in rehearsals!

Their ensembles are always welcoming new members who simply enjoy making music in a fun and friendly environment, so if you want to join or simply want to find out more get in touch.

RUMS Concert Band offers a great environment to meet other student musicians and play fun concert band music from film themes to (the dreaded) Tequila. We welcome all abilities and a wide range of instruments. If that’s not enough to get you to come along we also have a cake break in the middle of rehearsals and, much like the other ensembles, make sure to spend time to socialise after we finish practising.

Ensemble Leader: Thomas Bush
