Quarantine & chill: What to watch on Netflix right now

What better to do in self-isolation than binge some amazing shows on Netflix?! I have gathered recommendations from my friends and family (who have great taste) about what’s best to watch on Netflix right now… so here you go (in no particular order):

The Stranger

The stranger is an amazing series based on a woman who has private and personal information on several different people. The uncovering of this information for many of the characters would be life shattering- so many of them are willing to pay a price. But there are also people trying to get rid of the stranger that are prepared to do anything to remove those that are in their way. This series is gripping, shocking and you won’t regret watching it.

Altered Carbon

This sci-fi series is an action-packed story of a futuristic world where one’s personality and feelings are stored on a ‘stack’- a sort of microchip at the back of your neck. It also follows a compelling love story amidst war and chaos. This series is full of twists and turns with a shocking series finale. I recommend that you watch this programme if you love action and romance.

Friends

Now is the perfect time to binge a well-loved, comforting and familiar series- friends. It will remind you just how important friendships are and the hilarious interactions between the characters will undoubtably distract you from all of the turmoil going on in the world right now.

Ozark

This series is gripping, thrilling and intense and will leave you at the edge of your seat. The show follows the life and family of Marty (Jason Bateman) and his money laundering activities. As you can imagine, there are some big, scary criminals on his back, and as the series unfolds, we discover more and more about his struggles.

Safe

If you love British crime dramas (like me), then this series is for you. With a great cast, and compelling storyline, you will be dying to find out where the missing girl is, and who killed Chris. Its unexpected ending leaves you with many unanswered questions… there’s got to be another series coming!

Sex Education

If you haven’t already seen the 2 seasons of this show, where have you been?! Not only is this programme funny and entertaining, it also highlights some key issues in society. By the end of these series, you will feel sexually educated, touched and sad that it has come to an end.

Love is Blind

If you love drama and romance, you’ll love this show. It is based around people getting to know each other in a pod- where they can’t see each other face to face. After a while, the contestants must decide to get engaged to someone they have spoken to in the pods. After their engagement we follow the characters on their honeymoons and normal lives… until the weddings. The gripping final episodes leave us wondering whether each couple will say ‘I do’ at the alter- a great watch.

Jane the Virgin

This series is just great. It is based around jane- who got accidentally artificially inseminated with sperm and became pregnant (whilst still remaining a virgin). This show will make you laugh, cry, love and hate. There are so many twists and turns- some more realistic than others, but overall, it reminds you why family, support and love is so important.

Happy watching!
