The pandemic has caused significant disruption to how we live our daily lives, resulting in adapting the ways we work and study here at the University of Reading. Before the launch of the lockdown across the United Kingdom, we converted our lectures, workshops and services online, to help prevent the spread of the virus.

The Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI), has recently released results of an investigation into views on how the virus has impacted the student Higher Education experience. The investigation covers a vast array of topics, some of which we will be exploring in the following blog.

The study found that 66% of students feel that the messaging from the Higher Education Institution surrounding the pandemic has been quite or very clear. Here at Reading, we are very committed to ensuring that all students know how the University is adapting – informing students of all of the changes that have come as a result of the virus.

The study also found that 44% of interviewed students, said that they are quite or very satisfied with how their University has provided support services during lockdown. Services such as mental health support and advice, careers support, counselling and more. Even though we are not on campus right now, all of our support services are still available remotely.

If you feel you would like access to some support, you have come to the right place. Maybe you are struggling with adapting to our new strange reality, or perhaps you are worried about social distancing and your family, maybe you would simply like a quick chat with one of our counsellors, we are here to help you.
