With the upcoming Winter break, some of you may want some additional support and help – whether you’re going home for the holidays or staying in Reading. To ensure you maintain and improve your mental health and wellbeing, the University provides unlimited access to the ‘Wisdom: Learn, Grow, Thrive’ app for all University of Reading students.
About The App
The ‘Wisdom: Learn, Grow, Thrive’ app is a wellbeing and wellness app available on your phone. It offers additional support such as wellbeing videos/webinars, mini health checks, health/wellbeing plans, sleep sounds soundscapes, guided mediations/breathing exercises, yoga/fitness videos, interactive mood trackers and more. If you want some extra guidance or ways to remain calm, as well as being more mindful and improving wellbeing (with aspects such as sleep and fitness), this app may be just what you’re looking for during the Winter break (especially when visiting family can be a bit chaotic, or staying alone in Halls may be a bit lonely).
How To Get The App
Available on your phone or mobile device, you can find the download to the app on the University Essentials website. By scrolling at the bottom of the page, you can find the login details associated with the University to use the app for free (unique code: MHA268185, username for online portal: reading, password for online portal: university).
Additional Support
If you are struggling with mental health over the Christmas break, the University still has their 24 hour student support helpline, allowing you personal support and guidance for your situation. You can also visit your local GP (or University Medical Group Centre if you’re still in Reading) to talk about any issues you may be experiencing. You can also find out more about Mental Health Wellbeing and Support from the University on Essentials in case you are struggling and find what works best for your situation.
The Winter break and Christmas period can be either chaotic, lonely, both or neither – depending on your situation.
