A Chemical Pentathlon was organised and hosted by the Chemistry Department on 6 July 2012 as part of our commitment to outreach activities in the local community.  

Year 9 students from a variety of schools in Berkshire enjoyed a fun day of practical chemistry which included a ‘chemical sprint’, a ‘chemical long jump’ and making ‘gold medals’. Students also enjoyed a presentation on ‘drugs in sport’ given by Dr Angela Alexander, an Olympic Gamesmaker and member of the School of Pharmacy.  The competition was won by The Emmbrook School, with Dr Challoner’s Grammar school coming second and Claire’s Court Girls school third.  The event was funded by the South East Region Analytical Division (SERAD).
