The Chemistry Department Research Colloquium on Monday 20th April is by Georgina Ferry, noted author and broadcaster.

She will be speaking on the life and work of the pioneering biological crystallographer Dorothy Hodgkin and the title of her talk is  “I think with my hands”.

Dr Ben Littlefield on BBC Radio Berkshire

Chemist and Outreach and Access Facilitator for the Faculty of Life Science, Dr Ben Littlefield, was on BBC Radio Berkshire over the weekend. He appeared on Matt Allwright’s Saturday Solution to talk about the ‘Science Slam’ event taking place in Reading that evening. Final Year Chemistry PhD Student, Ashfaq Afsar wins prize at RSC Organic Section South and West Regional Meeting

 

At last Wednesday’s RSC Organic Section South and West Regional Meeting, Ashfaq Afsar won the Thieme Poster Prize for his poster entitled “Immobilisation of Bis(dimethyltriazinyl)phenanthroline (C1-BTPhen) on Magnetic Nanoparticles for Co-extraction of Americium (III) and Europium (III)”.

He also wins a year’s electronic access to Synfacts

Chemistry Research Colloquium – Professor Martin Schröder, University of Nottingham “Supramolecular Chemistry of Porous Metal-Organic Materials: Substrate Storage and Separations”

On Monday 23rd February the Chemistry Research Colloquium is by Professor Martin Schröder, University of Nottingham.

His talk  “Supramolecular Chemistry of Porous Metal-Organic Materials: Substrate Storage and Separations”,  will be at 4pm in Chemistry LTG preceded by refreshments in the foyer at 3.40pm.
