Membership is open to all University of Reading students, colleagues and alumni. Rehearsals for the following groups will restart in September 2024.
Choirs – our University choir is open to anyone who would like to sing and has a basic ability to follow printed sheet music. Reading University Music Society (RUMS) choir is open to all students.
Orchestra – open to all instrumentalists. Just come and play!
String Ensemble – RUMS run ensemble open to all UoR students who play a string instrument.
Percussion Ensemble – run by a professional percussionist and director Dae Lee. Everyone is welcome to join this group regardless of how much or how little percussion experience you have. Our current members are pianists, saxophonists, singers and, of course, drummers!
Big Band – we are opening up for anyone who plays a jazz instrument to come and have a go. Everyone is welcome! Some band seats are auditioned due to high demand – keep an eye out for more information!
Jazz Band – RUMS run jazz band for any student interested in playing some jazz!
Concert Band – RUMS run ensemble for any woodwind, brass or percussion players.
Brass Ensemble – RUMS run ensemble for any brass musicians who want to have a play!
