Funding Available for MA Studies at Reading Classics

Are you interested in the ancient world and considering graduate studies? The University of Reading offers a variety of funding opportunities for an MA in Classics and Ancient History.

 

Home Fees (UK based students)

  • UK Academic Achievement Scholarship: make sure you have received an offer by 1 July. It is advisable that you apply for the programme by the end of May (happy to talk more).

 

International fees (non-UK based students)

  • University of Reading Excellence Scholarship: you will automatically be considered for a scholarship, but it is advisable that you apply for your programme as soon as possible.
  • The University of Reading is delighted to have been selected by the British Council as a co-funder for four GREAT Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to master’s students from specific countries. All GREAT scholarships have a value of £10,000.
  • Chevening Scholarships are the UK government’s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations. The University of Reading and Chevening have been working together for over 20 years, offering international students funding to complete their Master’s degrees in Reading.

 

University of Reading Alumni

  • If you have graduated with a BA from University of Reading, you are eligible for the Alumni Master’s Scholarships. You are also eligible if you have studied in the University of Reading as an Exchange or Study Abroad student. Please take note that the deadline is 1 June 2026. It is advisable that you apply as early as possible and preferably by the end of April 2026.
  • You will automatically receive a discount in your fees (see more here).

 

Other schemes

  • The Snowdon Scholarship programme aims to give a small number of exceptionally talented disabled people an opportunity to achieve their true potential.
