We believe the recent iOS 6.1 update has been causing problems with our Microsoft Exchange email service. This appears to be caused by an issue with the way that Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads handle meeting requests.
ITS have received a number of queries regarding Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 365.
Neither of these versions of Office are compatible with operating systems as old as Windows XP or Windows Vista.
As a staff member or student, you can obtain a Windows 8 upgrade via www.theultimatesteal.co.uk but we recommend that you check the system requirements and specifications carefully.
IT Services do not recommend installing either of these versions of Office software on University owned devices at this time as we are still investigating core systems compatibility.

As part of the Anti-Spam system at the University of Reading, IT Services subscribe to a two blocklists, that are used to reduce the amount of Spam received. They do this by rejecting email that has come from an email server that has been reported as sending Spam and this significantly reduces the amount of Spam email that we are required to process. The University is decommissioning the remote access server “remote” and its central UNIX server “main” (aka “suma3”), and is replacing both with a more modern services.
